Overview

Heat in Rubber Industry

Rubber processing relies on heat for mixing, extrusion, moulding and vulcanising. MaxVolt manufactures cartridge, cast-in, strip, band and air heaters for moulding presses, extruders, curing ovens and the moulds themselves.

Vulcanising depends on time and temperature. If a press platen or mould is a few degrees off in one corner, parts under-cure or scorch — and the defect often only shows up later in service.

MaxVolt supplies the heaters that set those temperatures: cartridge and cast-in heaters for platens and moulds, band heaters for extruders and air heaters for hot-air curing.

Thermal Challenges

Problems we solve for this industry

Uneven platen temperature

Cold edges on press platens lead to inconsistent cure and rejected parts.

Our approach: Heater layout and wattage are planned across the platen, with more heat at the edges.

Cartridge heater failures

Loose fits and vibration in presses burn out cartridge heaters.

Our approach: Cartridges matched to the bore with suitable watt density and lead protection.

Long cure cycles

Slow heat-up between batches wastes press time.

Our approach: Heaters sized for the heat-up you need, with good thermal contact.

Fumes and contamination

Process fumes and release agents attack heater terminals.

Our approach: Protected lead exits and terminal designs for the press environment.

Applications

Applications & recommended heaters
