I = P ÷ V, R = V² ÷ P. Three-phase line current I = P ÷ (√3 × V). Resistances are at operating temperature (hot).
Need help with wiring or element design?How it works
Resistive heaters follow Ohm's law: current I = P ÷ V and resistance R = V² ÷ P. In a balanced 3-phase heater with three elements, the line current is P ÷ (√3 × V).
In star (Y) each element sees the phase voltage (V ÷ √3); in delta (Δ) each element sees the full line voltage — so delta elements need about three times the resistance of star elements for the same power.
Results are engineering estimates for initial sizing. Final heater design should be confirmed with our application engineers.
