Heat in Paper Industry
Paper, board and corrugation plants use heat for drying, coating, laminating, printing and gluing. MaxVolt supplies air heaters, infrared heaters, cast-in heaters, immersion and circulation heaters and hot-melt hose heaters for paper mills, converters and corrugated box makers.
Paper and board must be dried and cured evenly across the full width of the web — any streak or wet edge shows up as curl, cockling or poor print quality. Converters also need dependable heat for coating, laminating, printing and gluing.
MaxVolt supplies the electric heaters for these processes, designed for the airflow, web width and speed of your machine.
Problems we solve for this industry
Even moisture across the web
Uneven drying causes curl, cockling and print defects.
Our approach: Zoned infrared and air heaters let the drying profile be adjusted across the width.
Fire risk from paper dust
Dust and lint settling on hot elements is a fire hazard.
Our approach: Sheathed elements and over-temperature protection instead of exposed hot wires.
Starch and glue temperature
Starch adhesive that is too cold or too hot gives weak bonds on the corrugator.
Our approach: Immersion or circulation heaters with accurate control in the glue kitchen.
Energy cost of drying
Drying is the biggest energy use in most paper processes.
Our approach: Infrared targets the web directly, and heaters are sized for the actual load.

Paper Industry heating — common questions
Infrared heats the web directly and responds fast, so it suits coating and print drying or boosting an existing dryer. Hot air suits gentle bulk drying. Many lines combine both.
